Alcatel OneTouch Com is announced in 1998
Design
Far better looking than the previous models, the OneTouch Com appears both smaller and sleeker than its predecessor - a result of the visual illusion as the difference in size is marginal. There are however several other quite tangible differences, coincidentally leaving a larger area of the screen exposed; overall improved build quality and ergonomics; and some weight loss.Weighing in at 230 grams and measuring 151 x 62 x 24 mm, it's compact ad powerful for its size. The black and white display is ideal for text, messages and simple pictures like logos and picture massages. The display resolution 128 x 240 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. Lacking LEDs of any kind, however, the display - combined with vibration and audible alerts - is the OneTouch Com's only way of notifying users of new messages and missed calls. This is common for all Alcatel handsets, requiring users to inconveniently have to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting rather than just glance at it.
Ergonomics
The OneTouch Com is not comfortable for hold in ones hand because it is too wide.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Alcatel handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the comfortable center keys, make the phone easer to dial. What's more, the P910i frustratingly flops all around the place when using both thumbs to enter text, yielding a usability level best suited to very short messages. Thankfully, it's still possible to detach the flip entirely for those who prefer fully touch-based interaction.
Features
Single band 900 MHz connectivity isn't all the Alcatel OneTouch Com has to offer: there's also support for SMS, .infrared old wireless device, and spacious phone book..
Performance
Audio quality on the OneTouch Com was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 800 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 2 hours talk time or 60 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 120 minutes.
Availability
The Alcatel OneTouch Com is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Alcatel OneTouch Com is a beautiful phone to hold and use, and it's quickly won our hearts. The typical Alcatel design flair is present in abundance, with all the requisite consumer features to back it up.But love doesn't notice such little flaws. |
