Bird F4 is announced in 2004
Design
Bird F4 handset is a distinctive-looking clamshell. Measures 81 x 52 x 22 mm in size and weighing 90 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.A secound 96 x 48 pixel, 2 display dominates the front cover, and although not the clearest external display we've seen it is still quite functional. The 16 bit - color display which is a little milky, dim and uneven, as well as having lower resolution than usual. The display resolution 128 x 128 pixel which is standart resolution for more mobile phones.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Bird handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The F4 is not comfortable for hold in ones hand because it is too wide.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Bird handsets. The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the comfortable center keys, make the phone easer to dial. And last, but not least, a five-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Bird F4 has to offer: there's also support for GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Java MIDP 2.0, 40-channels polyphony, a voice recorder, Loud Speaker, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book..
Performance
Audio quality on the F4 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 700 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 3 hours talk time or 100 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 105 minutes.
Availability
The Bird F4 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Bird's F4 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Bird. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
