Bosch 909 is announced in 2000
Design
The latter quickly became immensely popular and also the manufacturer's flagship, but with the advent of the 909, Bosch has finally entrenched itself as an important player in the market for experienced users, the Bosch 909 is slender and not very compact handset at 112 x 50 x 17 mm and 109 grams. The black and white display is ideal for text, messages and simple pictures like logos and picture massages. The display resolution 94 x 64 pixel is not very high but is normal for low class phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. Lacking LEDs of any kind, however, the display - combined with vibration and audible alerts - is the 909's only way of notifying users of new messages and missed calls. This is common for all Bosch handsets, requiring users to inconveniently have to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting rather than just glance at it.
Ergonomics
The 909 is not comfortable for hold in ones hand because it is too wide.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Bosch handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the comfortable center keys, make the phone easer to dial. Its keypad is as pleasing in use as its chassis is on the eyes: tactile feedback is excellent and all buttons are placed in a logical manner - quite a feat, considering 909's knack for quirky keypads. And last, but not least, a simple two-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Bosch 909 has to offer: there's also support for SMS, .and spacious phone book..
Performance
Audio quality on the 909 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 650 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 5 hours talk time or 180 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 97 minutes.
Availability
The Bosch 909 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Bosch 909 is a beautiful phone to hold and use, and it's quickly won our hearts. The typical Bosch design flair is present in abundance, with all the requisite consumer features to back it up.But love doesn't notice such little flaws. |
