Curitel HX-550C is announced in 2004
Design
Curitel's HX-550C is a typical clamshell design. Measures 87 x 47 x 23 mm in size and weighing 100 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.A secound 64 x 48 pixel, 2 display dominates the front cover, and although not the clearest external display we've seen it is still quite functional. The 16 bit - color display which is a little milky, dim and uneven, as well as having lower resolution than usual. The display resolution 128 x 160 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Curitel handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The HX-550C is comfortable to hold and lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Curitel handsets. The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary. And last, but not least, a five-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Curitel HX-550C has to offer: there's also support for SMS, and a range of applications such as Java MIDP 2.0, 16-channels polyphony, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of and spacious phone book..
Performance
Audio quality on the HX-550C was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 950 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 4 hours talk time or 150 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 142 minutes.
Availability
The Curitel HX-550C is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Curitel HX-550C is a beautiful phone to hold and use, and it's quickly won our hearts. The typical Curitel design flair is present in abundance, with all the requisite consumer features to back it up.But love doesn't notice such little flaws. |
