Ericsson R380s is announced in 2000
Design
Ericsson's R380s - one of few models from Ericsson featuring a more traditional candy bar design, the Ericsson R380s is very heavy and too big handset at 130 x 49 x 30 mm and 169 grams. The black and white display is ideal for text, messages and simple pictures like logos and picture massages. The display resolution 96 x 240 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Ericsson handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The R380s is comfortable to hold and lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Ericsson handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the comfortable center keys, make the phone easer to dial. Its keypad is as pleasing in use as its chassis is on the eyes: tactile feedback is excellent and all buttons are placed in a logical manner - quite a feat, considering R380s's knack for quirky keypads. And last, but not least, a four-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Ericsson R380s has to offer: there's also support for SMS, .infrared old wireless device, and spacious phone book. and when it comes to storage the R380s offers 1 MB which is dynamically shared between images and J2ME applications.
Performance
Audio quality on the R380s was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 950 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 105 hours talk time or 150 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 142 minutes.
Availability
The Ericsson R380s is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Ericsson R380s is a beautiful phone to hold and use, and it's quickly won our hearts. The typical Ericsson design flair is present in abundance, with all the requisite consumer features to back it up.But love doesn't notice such little flaws. |
