Ericsson T68m is announced in 2001

Design

Having gained fresh wind in its sails over the course of the past year or so, Ericsson has certainly made its mark on phone sale hit lists recently, the Ericsson T68m is a very slender and compact handset at 100 x 45 x 20 mm and 84 grams. The 256-color display unfortunately suffers from a very grainy appearance. The grainyness is not a problem when displaying text, however, just images - and due to the T68m first and foremost being a color phone, this is less of a problem than it could have been. The display resolution 101 x 80 pixel is not very high but is normal for low class phone.

The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Ericsson handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.

Ergonomics

The T68m lies well in ones hand.A numerical keypad placed below offers appropriately-spaced keys and are pleasantly comfortable in use.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Ericsson handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary.Unfortunately, the keypad of the Ericsson T68m emits excess noise, but on the bright side its keys have been comfortably spaced and sized. We're not entirely happy with the design of the navigational pad and its adjacent buttons, however, as distinguishing between these less easy than it ought to be.And last, but not least, a five-way joystick centered below the display.

Features

In the WAN department, the T68m boasts healthy support for Tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz, as well as HSCSD, GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Email client, voice commands, a voice recorder, FAX/Modem, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of infrared old wireless device, bluetooth high speed small range wireless device.GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, HSCSD support gives more speed when you browse with your mobile browser, and spacious phone book..

Performance

Audio quality on the T68m was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 700 mAh Li-pol battery is rated for 11 hours talk time or 300 hours standby, which is very good for battery's theoretical capacity.Charge time is about 105 minutes.

Availability

The Ericsson T68m is now available throughout Europe in some language version.

Conclusion

Ericsson's T68m is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Ericsson. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable.
