Haier Z1000M is announced in 2003
Design
Haier Z1000M handset is a distinctive-looking clamshell. Measures 84 x 44 x 23 mm in size and weighing 92 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.A secound 64 x 48 pixel, 2 display dominates the front cover, and although not the clearest external display we've seen it is still quite functional. The black and white display is ideal for text, messages and simple pictures like logos and picture massages. The display resolution 96 x 65 pixel is not very high but is normal for small phone like this.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. Lacking LEDs of any kind, however, the display - combined with vibration and audible alerts - is the Z1000M's only way of notifying users of new messages and missed calls. This is common for all Haier handsets, requiring users to inconveniently have to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting rather than just glance at it.
Ergonomics
The Z1000M lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Haier handsets. The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary. And last, but not least, a five-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Haier Z1000M has to offer: there's also support for GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , 32-channels polyphony, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of infrared old wireless device,GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book.
As previously mentioned, the Z1000M is also equipped with , as well as an integrated MP3 player. The latter of which is also the reason for why the 32 MB of internal memory, which initially appears spacious, is quickly stretched to its limits. The phone incidentally also offers up an integrated FM radio.
Unfortunately, neither Memory Stick Duo format or any other method of memory expansion is supported by the Z1000M, meaning users find themselves drawn by the MP3 playback capabilities will also quickly - and repeatedly - drawn to their PC and USB cable for updating ones playlist.
Performance
Audio quality on the Z1000M was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 950 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 5 hours talk time or 500 hours standby, which is very good for battery's theoretical capacity.Charge time is about 142 minutes.
Availability
The Haier Z1000M is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Haier Z1000M is a beautiful phone to hold and use, and it's quickly won our hearts. The typical Haier design flair is present in abundance, with all the requisite consumer features to back it up.But love doesn't notice such little flaws. |
