LG W510 is announced in 2001
Design
The LG W510 is a compact clamshell phone. Measures 83 x 45 x 19 mm in size and weighing 78 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size. The black and white display is ideal for text, messages and simple pictures like logos and picture massages. The display resolution 128 x 128 pixel which is standart resolution for more mobile phones.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. Lacking LEDs of any kind, however, the display - combined with vibration and audible alerts - is the W510's only way of notifying users of new messages and missed calls. This is common for all LG handsets, requiring users to inconveniently have to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting rather than just glance at it.
Ergonomics
The W510 lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent LG handsets. The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary. And last, but not least, a four-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the LG W510 has to offer: there's also support for SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , voice commands, FAX/Modem, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of and spacious phone book..
Performance
Audio quality on the W510 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 700 mAh Li-pol battery is rated for 2.7 hours talk time or 200 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 105 minutes.
Availability
The LG W510 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
LG's W510 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from LG. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
