Lenovo G868 is announced in 2004

Design

The Lenovo G868 is a compact clamshell phone. Measures 82 x 44 x 22 mm in size and weighing 80 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.A secound 64 x 48 pixel, 2 display dominates the front cover, and although not the clearest external display we've seen it is still quite functional. The 16 bit - color display which is a little milky, dim and uneven, as well as having lower resolution than usual. The display resolution 128 x 143 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.

The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Lenovo handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.

Ergonomics

The G868 lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Lenovo handsets. The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary. And last, but not least, a four-way navigation buttons centered below the display.

Features

Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Lenovo G868 has to offer: there's also support for GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Java MIDP 2.0, 64-channels polyphony, FAX/Modem, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book..

Performance

Audio quality on the G868 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 700 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 3 hours talk time or 120 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 105 minutes.

Availability

The Lenovo G868 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.

Conclusion

Lenovo's G868 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Lenovo. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable.
