Maxon MX-6815 is announced in 1999
Design
Heavily influenced by classic Maxon design in areas of shape, colour and design, weighing in at 96 g and measuring 46 x 110 x 23 mm, the MX-6815 is petite and relatively lightweight. The black and white display is ideal for text, messages and simple pictures like logos and picture massages. The display resolution 12 x 4 chars is not very high but is normal for small phone like this.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. Lacking LEDs of any kind, however, the display - combined with vibration and audible alerts - is the MX-6815's only way of notifying users of new messages and missed calls. This is common for all Maxon handsets, requiring users to inconveniently have to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting rather than just glance at it.
Ergonomics
The MX-6815 is not comfortable for hold in ones hand because it is too wide.A numerical keypad placed below offers appropriately-spaced keys and are pleasantly comfortable in use.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Maxon handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the comfortable center keys, make the phone easer to dial. Its keypad is as pleasing in use as its chassis is on the eyes: tactile feedback is excellent and all buttons are placed in a logical manner - quite a feat, considering MX-6815's knack for quirky keypads. And last, but not least, a simple two-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
Single band 900 MHz connectivity isn't all the Maxon MX-6815 has to offer: there's also support for GPRS, SMS, .GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book..
Performance
Audio quality on the MX-6815 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 850 mAh NI-MH battery is rated for 4 hours talk time or 180 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 127 minutes.
Availability
The Maxon MX-6815 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Maxon MX-6815 is a beautiful phone to hold and use, and it's quickly won our hearts. The typical Maxon design flair is present in abundance, with all the requisite consumer features to back it up.But love doesn't notice such little flaws. |
