Motorola V50 is announced in 2000
Design
Motorola's V50 has a standard design for this class handsets, measuring 44 x 83 x 25 mm and 83 grams. Despite the weight it has a good feel in the hand, and the good shaped plastic body and styled highlights give it an attractive and nice look. The display resolution 96 x 54 pixel is not very high but is normal for small phone like this.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Motorola handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The V50 is not comfortable for hold in ones hand because it is too wide.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Motorola handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the comfortable center keys, make the phone easer to dial.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Motorola V50 has to offer: there's also support for GPRS, SMS, .GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book..
Performance
Audio quality on the V50 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 600 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 4 hours talk time or 180 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 90 minutes.
Availability
The Motorola V50 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Motorola's V50 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Motorola. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
