Motorola V80 is announced in 2004
Design
The V80 is an incredible looking handset, totally unique and, in our spot poll, a real object of lust for both sexes of all ages. Weighing in at 90 grams and measuring 99 x 45 x 19 mm, it's compact, while not featherweight. It's shorter and narrower than one would expect, and thicker, too, thanks to the unique design. The 16 bit - color display which is a little milky, dim and uneven, as well as having lower resolution than usual. The display resolution 176 x 220 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Motorola handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The V80 lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Motorola handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, giving it a cheap feel while oddly designed buttons, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary. And last, but not least, a five-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
In the WAN department, the V80 boasts healthy support for Tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz, as well as GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Email client, Java MIDP 2.0, a voice recorder, FAX/Modem, Loud Speaker, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of bluetooth high speed small range wireless device.GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book. and when it comes to storage the V80 offers 6 MB which is dynamically shared between images and J2ME applications.
Performance
Audio quality on the V80 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 750 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 3.3 hours talk time or 130 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 112 minutes.
Availability
The Motorola V80 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Motorola's V80 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Motorola. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
