 Motorola V872 is announced in 2004
Design
Motorola V872 handset is a distinctive-looking clamshell. Measures 87 x 46 x 21 mm in size and weighing 90 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.A secound 64 x 48 pixel, 256 STN display dominates the front cover, and although not the clearest external display we've seen it is still quite functional.The 16 bit - color display which is a little milky, dim and uneven, as well as having lower resolution than usual.The display resolution 128 x 160 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker, while on the other side we find a dedicated camera button.There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Motorola handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The V872 is comfortable to hold and lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Motorola handsets.The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary.And last,but not least, a four-way navigation buttons centered below the display.

In the WAN department, the V872 boasts healthy support for Tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz, as well as GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Java MIDP 2.0, 40-channels polyphony, voice commands, Loud Speaker, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book.
As previously mentioned, the V872 is also equipped with a 0.3 megapixel camera support for picture-taking and audio/video recording, as well as an integrated MP3 player.The latter of which is also the reason for why the 0 MB of internal memory, which initially appears spacious, is quickly stretched to its limits. MP3 and MPEG4 are both formats which can be stored for playback on the Motorola V872.
Unfortunately, neither Memory Stick Duo format or any other method of memory expansion is supported by the V872, meaning users find themselves drawn by the MP3 playback capabilities will also quickly - and repeatedly - drawn to their PC and USB cable for updating ones playlist.
Performance
Audio quality on the V872 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 810 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 4 hours talk time or 270 hours standby, which is very good for battery's theoretical capacity.Charge time is about 121 minutes.

The Motorola V872 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.

Motorola's V872 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Motorola. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
