Nokia 6230i is announced in 2005
Design
Heavily influenced by classic Nokia design in areas of shape, colour and design, weighing in at 99 g and measuring 103 x 44 x 20 mm, the 6230i is petite and relatively lightweight. A perfectly adequate 65,000-color display is bright and crisp, and is a far step above the dim 4096-color versions on even the most recent Nokia models. The display resolution 208 x 208 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker, while on the other side we find a dedicated camera button. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Nokia handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The 6230i lies well in ones hand. While the big display a numerical keypad placed on a small space offers appropriately-spaced keys and are not pleasantly comfortable in use.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Nokia handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, giving it a cheap feel while oddly designed buttons, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary.Unfortunately, the keypad of the Nokia 6230i emits excess noise, but on the bright side its keys have been comfortably spaced and sized. We're not entirely happy with the design of the navigational pad and its adjacent buttons, however, as distinguishing between these less easy than it ought to be.And last, but not least, a five-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
In the WAN department, the 6230i boasts healthy support for Tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz, as well as HSCSD, GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Email client, Java MIDP 1.0, voice commands, FAX/Modem, Loud Speaker, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of infrared old wireless device, bluetooth high speed small range wireless device.GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, HSCSD support gives more speed when you browse with your mobile browser, and spacious phone book.
As previously mentioned, the 6230i is also equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera support for picture-taking and audio/video recording, as well as an integrated MP3 player. The latter of which is also the reason for why the 32 MB of internal memory, which initially appears spacious, is quickly stretched to its limits. The 6230i also comes with an and Multi Media Card (MMC) expansion slot located under its battery,a 16-128 MB card comes bundled in the sales package, more space for images audio and video files, less time for PC and communication cable for updating internal memory, MP3 and MPEG4 are both formats which can be stored for playback on the Nokia 6230i. The phone incidentally also offers up an integrated FM radio.
Performance
Audio quality on the 6230i was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 900 mAh battery is rated for 4.5 hours talk time or 360 hours standby, which is very good for battery's theoretical capacity.Charge time is about 135 minutes.
Availability
The Nokia 6230i is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Nokia 6230i is a beautiful phone to hold and use, and it's quickly won our hearts. The typical Nokia design flair is present in abundance, with all the requisite consumer features to back it up.But love doesn't notice such little flaws. |
