Nokia 6610i is announced in 2004
Design
Having gained fresh wind in its sails over the course of the past year or so, Nokia has certainly made its mark on phone sale hit lists recently, the Nokia 6610i is a very slender and compact handset at 106 x 44 x 19 mm and 87 grams. The 4096-color display is dim, not very bright and crisp, but is a far step above the very dim 256-color versions on even the most recent Nokia models. The display resolution 128 x 128 pixel which is standart resolution for more mobile phones.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker, while on the other side we find a dedicated camera button. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Nokia handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The 6610i lies well in ones hand.A numerical keypad placed below offers appropriately-spaced keys and are pleasantly comfortable in use.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Nokia handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary.Unfortunately, the keypad of the Nokia 6610i emits excess noise, but on the bright side its keys have been comfortably spaced and sized. We're not entirely happy with the design of the navigational pad and its adjacent buttons, however, as distinguishing between these less easy than it ought to be.And last, but not least, a four-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
In the WAN department, the 6610i boasts healthy support for Tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz, as well as GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Java MIDP 2.0, 16-channels polyphony, FAX/Modem, Loud Speaker, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of infrared old wireless device,GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book.
As previously mentioned, the 6610i is also equipped with a 0.3 megapixel camera support for picture-taking and when it comes to storage the 6610i offers 4 MB which is dynamically shared between images and J2ME applications. The phone incidentally also offers up an integrated FM radio.
Performance
Audio quality on the 6610i was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 850 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 3.5 hours talk time or 435 hours standby, which is very good for battery's theoretical capacity.Charge time is about 127 minutes.
Availability
The Nokia 6610i is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Nokia's 6610i is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Nokia. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
