Nokia N-Gage QD is announced in 2004
Design
Nokia's N-Gage QD - one of few models from Nokia featuring a more traditional candy bar design, the Nokia N-Gage QD is heavy and little big handset at 68 x 118 x 22 mm and 143 grams. The 4096-color display is dim, not very bright and crisp, but is a far step above the very dim 256-color versions on even the most recent Nokia models. The display resolution 176 x 208 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker, while on the other side we find a dedicated camera button. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Nokia handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The N-Gage QD is not comfortable for hold in ones hand because it is too wide. While the big display a numerical keypad placed on a small space offers appropriately-spaced keys and are not pleasantly comfortable in use.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Nokia handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, giving it a cheap feel while oddly designed buttons, with the comfortable center keys, make the phone easer to dial. Its keypad is as pleasing in use as its chassis is on the eyes: tactile feedback is excellent and all buttons are placed in a logical manner - quite a feat, considering N-Gage QD's knack for quirky keypads. And last, but not least, a four-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Nokia N-Gage QD has to offer: there's also support for HSCSD, GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Email client, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of bluetooth high speed small range wireless device.GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, HSCSD support gives more speed when you browse with your mobile browser, and spacious phone book.
As previously mentioned, the N-Gage QD is also equipped with a 0.3 megapixel camera support for picture-taking and when it comes to storage the N-Gage QD offers 3 MB which is dynamically shared between images and J2ME applications. The N-Gage QD also comes with an and Multi Media Card (MMC) expansion slot located under its battery,a 16-128 MB card comes bundled in the sales package, more space for images audio and video files, less time for PC and communication cable for updating internal memory,
Performance
Audio quality on the N-Gage QD was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 1070 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 10 hours talk time or 240 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 160 minutes.
Availability
The Nokia N-Gage QD is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Nokia N-Gage QD is a beautiful phone to hold and use, and it's quickly won our hearts. The typical Nokia design flair is present in abundance, with all the requisite consumer features to back it up.But love doesn't notice such little flaws. |
