Panasonic GD67 is announced in 2002
Design
Panasonic's GD67 has a standard design for this class handsets, measuring 45 x 109 x 20 mm and 81 grams. Despite the weight it has a good feel in the hand, and the good shaped plastic body and styled highlights give it an attractive and nice look. The 256-color display unfortunately suffers from a very grainy appearance. The grainyness is not a problem when displaying text, however, just images - and due to the GD67 first and foremost being a color phone, this is less of a problem than it could have been. The display resolution 101 x 80 pixel is not very high but is normal for small phone like this.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. Lacking LEDs of any kind, however, the display - combined with vibration and audible alerts - is the GD67's only way of notifying users of new messages and missed calls. This is common for all Panasonic handsets, requiring users to inconveniently have to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting rather than just glance at it.
Ergonomics
The GD67 is not comfortable for hold in ones hand because it is too wide.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Panasonic handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the comfortable center keys, make the phone easer to dial. And last, but not least, a five-way joystick centered below the display.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Panasonic GD67 has to offer: there's also support for GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Java MIDP 2.0, 16-channels polyphony, a voice recorder, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book..
Performance
Audio quality on the GD67 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 690 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 4 hours talk time or 180 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 103 minutes.
Availability
The Panasonic GD67 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Panasonic's GD67 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Panasonic. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
