Pantech PG-1000s is announced in 2005

Design

The Pantech PG-1000s is a compact clamshell phone. Measures 42 x 82 x 23 mm in size and weighing 80 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.A perfectly adequate 65,000-color display is bright and crisp, and is a far step above the dim 4096-color versions on even the most recent Pantech models. The display resolution 128 x 160 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.

The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Pantech handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.

Ergonomics

The PG-1000s is not comfortable for hold in ones hand because it is too wide.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Pantech handsets. The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the comfortable center keys, make the phone easer to dial. And last, but not least, a five-way navigation buttons centered below the display.

Features

In the WAN department, the PG-1000s boasts healthy support for Tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz, as well as GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as Java MIDP 2.0, 16-channels polyphony, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book..

Performance

Audio quality on the PG-1000s was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 670 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 3 hours talk time or 150 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 100 minutes.

Availability

The Pantech PG-1000s is now available throughout Europe in some language version.

Conclusion

Pantech's PG-1000s is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Pantech. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable.
