Sagem MY X-8 is announced in 2004
Design
Sagem's MY X-8 is a typical clamshell design. Measures 76 x 44 x 24 mm in size and weighing 110 grams, it is not light but feels very slender despite its size. The 16 bit - color display which is a little milky, dim and uneven, as well as having lower resolution than usual. The display resolution 120 x 160 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker, while on the other side we find a dedicated camera button. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Sagem handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The MY X-8 lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Sagem handsets. The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary. And last, but not least, a four-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Sagem MY X-8 has to offer: there's also support for SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Email client, Java MIDP 2.0, FAX/Modem, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of infrared old wireless device, and spacious phone book.
As previously mentioned, the MY X-8 is also equipped with a 0.3 megapixel camera support for picture-taking , as well as an integrated MP3 player. The latter of which is also the reason for why the 40 MB of internal memory, which initially appears spacious, is quickly stretched to its limits. The MY X-8 also comes with an Secure Digital (SD) and expansion slot located under its battery,a 16-128 MB card comes bundled in the sales package, more space for images audio and video files, less time for PC and communication cable for updating internal memory,
Performance
Audio quality on the MY X-8 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 720 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 4.3 hours talk time or 310 hours standby, which is very good for battery's theoretical capacity.Charge time is about 108 minutes.
Availability
The Sagem MY X-8 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Sagem MY X-8 is a beautiful phone to hold and use, and it's quickly won our hearts. The typical Sagem design flair is present in abundance, with all the requisite consumer features to back it up.But love doesn't notice such little flaws. |
