Samsung E700 is announced in 2003
Design
The Samsung E700 is a compact clamshell phone. Measures 90 x 45 x 23 mm in size and weighing 88 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.A secound 64 x 64 pixel, 256 STN display dominates the front cover, and although not the clearest external display we've seen it is still quite functional. The 16 bit - color display which is a little milky, dim and uneven, as well as having lower resolution than usual. The display resolution 128 x 160 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker, while on the other side we find a dedicated camera button. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Samsung handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The E700 lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Samsung handsets. The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary. And last, but not least, a five-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Samsung E700 has to offer: there's also support for GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Java MIDP 1.0, 40-channels polyphony, FAX/Modem, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of infrared old wireless device,GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book.
As previously mentioned, the E700 is also equipped with a 0.3 megapixel camera support for picture-taking and when it comes to storage the E700 offers 9 MB which is dynamically shared between images and J2ME applications.
Performance
Audio quality on the E700 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 780 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 3 hours talk time or 230 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 117 minutes.
Availability
The Samsung E700 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Samsung's E700 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Samsung. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
