Samsung S300 is announced in 2003

Design

The Samsung S300 is a compact clamshell phone. Measures 80 x 40 x 20 mm in size and weighing 70 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.A secound 96 x 48 pixel, 2 display dominates the front cover, and although not the clearest external display we've seen it is still quite functional. The 16 bit - color display which is a little milky, dim and uneven, as well as having lower resolution than usual. The display resolution 128 x 128 pixel which is standart resolution for more mobile phones.

The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Samsung handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.

Ergonomics

The S300 lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Samsung handsets. The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary. And last, but not least, a five-way navigation buttons centered below the display.

Features

In the WAN department, the S300 boasts healthy support for Tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz, as well as GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Java MIDP 1.0, 40-channels polyphony, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of infrared old wireless device,GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book..

Performance

Audio quality on the S300 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 570 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 2.4 hours talk time or 120 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 85 minutes.

Availability

The Samsung S300 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.

Conclusion

Samsung's S300 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Samsung. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable.
