Sewon SDG-1000 is announced in 2004

Design

The classic style of Sewon design in areas of shape, colour and design, weighing in at 90 g and measuring 82 x 42 x 21 mm, the SDG-1000 is petite and relatively lightweight. The 16 bit - color display which is a little milky, dim and uneven, as well as having lower resolution than usual. The display resolution 128 x 128 pixel which is standart resolution for more mobile phones.

The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker, while on the other side we find a dedicated camera button. There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Sewon handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.

Ergonomics

The SDG-1000 lies well in ones hand.A numerical keypad placed below offers appropriately-spaced keys and are pleasantly comfortable in use.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Sewon handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary.Unfortunately, the keypad of the Sewon SDG-1000 emits excess noise, but on the bright side its keys have been comfortably spaced and sized. We're not entirely happy with the design of the navigational pad and its adjacent buttons, however, as distinguishing between these less easy than it ought to be.And last, but not least, a five-way navigation buttons centered below the display.

Features

Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Sewon SDG-1000 has to offer: there's also support for SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Java MIDP 2.0, 64-channels polyphony, FAX/Modem, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of infrared old wireless device, and spacious phone book.

As previously mentioned, the SDG-1000 is also equipped with a 0.3 megapixel camera support for picture-taking .

Performance

Audio quality on the SDG-1000 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 700 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 4 hours talk time or 150 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 105 minutes.

Availability

The Sewon SDG-1000 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.

Conclusion

Sewon's SDG-1000 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Sewon. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable.
