Sewon SG-5000 is announced in 2002
Design
Sewon SG-5000 handset is a distinctive-looking clamshell. Measures 82 x 45 x 22 mm in size and weighing 90 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.A secound 48 x 64 pixel, 2 display dominates the front cover, and although not the clearest external display we've seen it is still quite functional. The black and white display is ideal for text, messages and simple pictures like logos and picture massages. The display resolution 128 x 128 pixel which is standart resolution for more mobile phones.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker. Lacking LEDs of any kind, however, the display - combined with vibration and audible alerts - is the SG-5000's only way of notifying users of new messages and missed calls. This is common for all Sewon handsets, requiring users to inconveniently have to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting rather than just glance at it.
Ergonomics
The SG-5000 lies well in ones hand.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Sewon handsets. The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the shrunken center keys for no apparent reason, make the phone harder to dial than necessary. And last, but not least, a four-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
Features
Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Sewon SG-5000 has to offer: there's also support for SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of and spacious phone book..
Performance
Audio quality on the SG-5000 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 900 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 3 hours talk time or 75 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 135 minutes.
Availability
The Sewon SG-5000 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Sewon's SG-5000 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Sewon. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
