Design
The Siemens AF51 is a compact clamshell phone. Measures 41 x 79 x 19 mm in size and weighing 80 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.A perfectly adequate 65,000-color display is bright and crisp, and is a far step above the dim 4096-color versions on even the most recent Siemens models.The display resolution 130 x 130 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker, while on the other side we find a dedicated camera button.There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Siemens handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.
Ergonomics
The AF51 is not comfortable for hold in ones hand because it is too wide.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Siemens handsets.The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the comfortable center keys, make the phone easer to dial.And last,but not least, a five-way navigation buttons centered below the display.

In the WAN department, the AF51 boasts healthy support for Tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz, as well as GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as Java MIDP 1.0, 32-channels polyphony, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book.
As previously mentioned, the AF51 is also equipped with a 0.1 megapixel camera support for picture-taking .
Performance
Audio quality on the AF51 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 620 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 5 hours talk time or 220 hours standby, which is very good for battery's theoretical capacity.Charge time is about 93 minutes.

The Siemens AF51 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.
Conclusion
Siemens's AF51 is yet another model in a range of phones from experienced users from Siemens. A new compact design and a reduced sized battery - which avoids rendering a negative impact on battery life - ensures a thin and light phone which is ergonomically comfortable. |
