Telit G80 is announced in 2002

Design

Heavily influenced by classic Telit design in areas of shape, colour and design, weighing in at 96 g and measuring 105 x 60 x 23 mm, the G80 is petite and relatively lightweight. The 16 bit - color display which is a little milky, dim and uneven, as well as having lower resolution than usual. The display resolution 160 x 120 pixel ideal for small and smart phone.

The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker, while on the other side we find a dedicated camera button.
Lacking LEDs of any kind, however, the display - combined with vibration and audible alerts - is the G80's only way of notifying users of new messages and missed calls. This is common for all Telit handsets, requiring users to inconveniently have to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting rather than just glance at it.

Ergonomics

The G80 is not comfortable for hold in ones hand because it is too wide.A numerical keypad placed below offers appropriately-spaced keys and are pleasantly comfortable in use.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Telit handsets. The plastic keypad has good placed keys, with the comfortable center keys, make the phone easer to dial. Its keypad is as pleasing in use as its chassis is on the eyes: tactile feedback is excellent and all buttons are placed in a logical manner - quite a feat, considering G80's knack for quirky keypads. And last, but not least, a five-way joystick centered below the display.

Features

In the WAN department, the G80 boasts healthy support for Tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz, as well as GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as WAP , Email client, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book.

As previously mentioned, the G80 is also equipped with a 0.3 megapixel camera support for picture-taking .

Performance

Audio quality on the G80 was crystal clear, and signal quality was good. The removable 600 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 6 hours talk time or 160 hours standby, which is quite low given the battery's theoretical capacity. Charge time is about 90 minutes.

Availability

The Telit G80 is now available throughout Europe in some language version.

Conclusion

Telit G80 is a beautiful phone to hold and use, and it's quickly won our hearts. The typical Telit design flair is present in abundance, with all the requisite consumer features to back it up.But love doesn't notice such little flaws.
